The City of Fairfax will conduct its Monthly Council Meeting on Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at the Fairfax City Hall at 7:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.

DATE CHANGE Fairfax Lionesses Dinner Meeting
Due to the weather, the Fairfax Lionesses will be having their monthly dinner meeting on Monday, February 15, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Smokey Hollow in Fairfax. All new members welcome.

Community Senior Bingo Party
A Community Senior Bingo Party will be conducted on Thursday, February 18, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. at Countryview Estates in Fairfax. This is a new time for winter. There will be prizes and refreshments. It's Free, so come on out and have some fun!

Sibley County 4-H Federation Members' Fruit Sales
Sibley County 4-H Federation announces its annual fruit sales. Members from the nine clubs in the county will be selling fruit until February 19. The fundraiser enables the Sibley County 4-H Federation to pay for costs incurred during events such as county and state fairs, summer camps, and educational trips. It also contributes to the 4-H after-school programs within Sibley County. Boxes of fruit in various sizes with an assortment of types are available to purchase. Also available are beef sticks and string cheese! If anyone would like to purchase food to support the 4-H program and are not contacted by a 4-H member, you may call the Sibley County Extension Office at 507-237-4100. Delivery is schedules for Monday, March 15, 2010.

St. Luke's Lutheran Church to have Waffle Supper
St. Luke's Lutheran Church of Franklin will have a Dad's Belgian Waffle Supper on Saturday, February 20, 2010, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at the Cedar Mountain Elementary Cafeteria in Franklin. There will be a Free-Will offering silent auction and prize drawing. All proceeds will go to the St. Luke's Roof Fund. In case of bad weather, the alternate date is February 27.

Fairfax United Methodist Church UMW Chili Cook-Off
The Fairfax United Methodist Church is sponsoring a Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, February 20, 2010, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Fairfax Auditorium. The prize will be recognition for "The Best Chili in Town" and $50 in Fairfax C & C Bucks. Everyone wishing to participate must be signed up by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 19, 2010. Entry blanks have been placed in most businesses in Fairfax. If you can't cook and still want to be involved, you're invited to Come & Vote by putting your donations in the jar in front of your favorite chili. All donations will go to 3 Local Charities: Habitat for Humanity, The Fairfax Public Library, and The Fairfax Ministerial Fund.

Marshall RC Club to Conduct Model Aircraft Expo
The Marshall R/C Club is a group of people interested in radio controlled model aircraft. On Saturday, February 27, 2010, at the Marshall YMCA, 200 S. A Street in Marshall, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, the Club will host their second Model Aircraft Exposition. They will have club members demonstrating various facets of their hobby. You will see demonstrations of model aircraft building, radio controls, model airplane engines, electric models, model helicopter flying and a display of typical accessories used in model aviation.  You’ll also be able to take the controls of a virtual model airplane or helicopter. In addition, there will be a display of model aircraft owned by the club members. Admission is free!
If you have thought about being part of this exciting hobby, here is your chance to get to know local people that are involved in this activity. If you need advice or help getting started in radio controlled model aircraft, the members of this group will be available to discuss whatever your interests may be in this hobby. Radio controlled model aircraft can be a wonderful family activity. The Woodbury Singers of Renville County & Woodbury Orchestra will perform at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bird Island on Sunday, April 11, 2010, at 4:00 p.m. Everyone welcome to attend and enjoy this great performance. Once again, the proceeds will go to the Renville County Food Shelf.

Fairfax Public Library Winter Reading Program
